Democrats controlled the House and the Senate all of last year, with hefty majorities in both those houses. But even with those majorities, with all the committee chairmanships, with all the leadership positions, they never got around to passing a budget.

Now the Republicans in Congress are having to clean up the Democrats’ mess, all the while trying to instill some fiscal discipline into a Congress that has long lived on pork, cronyism, and a million little corruptions.

Democrats, of course, are obstructing these efforts, N.C. 4th District Democrat David Price among them. Here’s his statesmanlike comment from this morning’s News & Observer:

Price said House Speaker John Boehner, whom he said has listened too closely to “tea party types,” holds the key to whether the government would stay open. “It’s their decision as to whether we’re going to get a budget,” Price said.

Wow! Two demagogic statements in one paragraph, one zinging Tea Party folks who just want this outrageous federal spending cut back, and another putting blame on Republicans when it belongs on the shoulders of Price and his Democratic colleagues.

No, Rep. Price. It was your party’s decision all last year, and you failed to make it, preferring to enact an unpopular and economy-ruining ObamaCare bill instead.

UPDATE: Prices’ mentor, Nancy Pelosi, makes clear that demagoguery will be the path Democrats take as the nation is fighting for its fiscal life:
