In the second half of today’s regularly scheduled GOP legislative news conference, House Minority Leader Paul Stam, R-Wake, Senate Minority Leader Phil Berger, R-Rockingham, and Rep. Tim Moore, R-Cleveland, discussed the impact of last week’s N.C. Supreme Court ruling in an ongoing fight over the death penalty.

The court ruled that the N.C. Medical Board could not punish doctors for participating in the state-mandated process for administering capital punishment. Republicans say that decision should help end North Carolina’s de facto death penalty moratorium.
