News broke yesterday that Sen. Richard Burr told supporters at a campaign fundraiser that he would vote for liberal Sen. Bernie Sanders for president before he would vote for Sen. Ted Cruz. Hard to believe, especially when the Associated Press cited as its source “one person who attended the event ” who “who demanded anonymity to discuss the private gathering.” The source said Burr “did not appear to be joking.”
Burr has since strongly denied making such a statement via Twitter.
