The Bobcats are a financial mess. OK, that’s not really news. Still, Observer NBA guy Rick Bonnell adds an odd prediction to the mix:

I believe that sooner or later (more likely later), Michael Jordan will own controlling interest in this franchise and will leave it in Charlotte. I’m not saying he, personally, will own 51 percent. I’m saying at some point, Jordan and the rich guys who love to hang out with him will buy out Johnson.

And while Jordan’s basketball decisions are mixed at best, on balance that would put this franchise back on track.

Why? How? You don’t get a fifth chance to make a first impression, which is about what the Bobcats would be on if Jordan & Co. bought out Bob Johnson. You don’t even get a third chance to make a first impression, which is what MJ would be on with this team and the CLT.

No, Bonnell is essentially in a cargo cult here, that the magical MJ will come again bringing goodies despite there being scant evidence that MJ’s addition as part-owner and then basketball operations guy-in-charge has helped turn this team around.
