Funny, I though something was up with N&R sportswriter Rob Daniels back in the fall when there were stories he wasn’t covering, N.C. A&T’s firing of football coach Lee Hobbs among them.

Daniels’ byline’s been back for a while, but now N&R editor John Robinson says he’s taking the buyout when he’s done covering the bowls.

I didn’t always agree with Daniels’ columns because he came off as your typical sensitive-liberal sportswriter. But he was also a hard-working reporter who did a great job of covering the college beat.

Robinson says they’ll replace Daniels, but — maybe I’m naive about these things—– isn’t replacing people who take buyouts defeating the purpose of offering buyouts? Note, too that they’ve never replaced Jim Young, who went on to become editor of ACCSports.com.
