Heath Shuler circulated a letter saying Congress needs to reduce its budget deficit by $4 trillion. It won bipartisan support and raves by big-name media outlets. The letter is only three paragraphs long and does not say how the cuts will be made. As an ignorant mass, I find myself once again excited by an empty promise from a politician. If a newspaper covers it, like Kay Hagan picking apples, it must be important.
