In his analysis of last night’s historic election, Carolina Journal’s David Bass notes that all 14 sales tax referendums around the state were defeated.
Guilford County Commissioner Skip Alston says it means voters “prefer” a property tax hike, while the N&R (unposted) is bummed, saying “the closeness of the result makes one only wonder what might have happened if the pro-sales tax forces had mobilized sooner.”
