Process and file the following.

  • The great NASCAR pullback has begun. Estimates are that 1000 jobs in motorsports in the area could contract. But, hey, at least NASCAR has the nifty city-subsidized $90m. office building Uptown.
  • Following the strong-arm robbery outside Trader Joe’s the other day, here’s two Johnson & Wales students getting stuck up. Criminals go where the hunting is good.
  • UNCC football continues to baffle the Uptown paper. “Students should not pay the majority of what football costs,” it opines. Students already pay the majority of what UNCC athletics cost. I swear, it is a pathology.
  • Sunday will mark exactly six months since the official MeckCoGov blog — The MecklenBlog — has been updated. No doubt the occasion will be marked by one of those coma-inducing News14 interviews.
  • The Charlotte Business Journal today runs an op-ed from the wife of the Uptown paper of record’s editorial page editor. Small world.
  • Also via the CBJ single-family closings tanked almost 40 percent in Q3. The region now has a 7.6 month supply of unfinished and empty homes, with SoMeck checking in with 8.1 months. Sounds about right. And ominous as hell.

Keep rockin’.
