Mayor Fenty of Washington D.C. wants to take over the utterly dysfunctional school system of the city. Meanwhile the School Board continues to fight the Mayor every step of the way, spending more money per child than most systems, but with appalling results. Seems the Mayor?s office searched to find the best-written document regarding an ?education strategy,? and picked Charlotte Mecklenburg. According to the Washington Post, the new edition of the plan “eliminates the word-for-word copying,” but “maintains most of the core initiatives.”
First and foremost this is a terrible example for students. But one would think they should have picked a proven strategy instead of one that WILL be implemented and for now only on paper.
