During a question and answer session at a private school in Asheville, a student asked Congressman Heath Shuler what Nancy Pelosi is like. Shuler’s response:
She’s the most misunderstood person in Washington. She’s a devout Catholic. Don’t get in a Bible discussion with her.
A devout Catholic who winks at taxpayer-funded abortion? Who doesn’t know the church’s historical teaching on the sanctity of human life? That devout Catholic?
Maybe Shuler was trying to appease the House’s top lady in light of his past remarks — namely, saying that she and Harry Reid had “failed.” Ouch.
