Vote Against Amendment One signs are everywhere here in tony Fisher Park. But as a commenter over at Ed Cone’s thread noted there are “absolutely zero for it.”

To which local blogger Lex Alexander— with whom hardly agree on anything —replied he’s “guessing that a lot of proponents either aren’t yard-sign people to begin with or else believe, rightly or wrongly, that they’ll be accused of bigotry if they post a sign.”

Unfortunately that’s a common tactic from many on the left, whether we’re talking gay marriage or illegal immigration or the tragic Trayvon Martin shooting. And just until the presidential campaign heats up.

Let me just say this is a difficult issue for me, and it’s very possible this household will split the vote. I also socialize with many people who have anti-Amendment One sign sin their yards. I personally believe we can have a rational discussion about it, but I tried that once and it ended in total disaster. So for now on I’ll keep my mouth shut and vote my conscience.
