Triad Watch reports that the Simkins PAC has forfeited a $5,000 donation from Action Greensboro after a ruling from the state Board of Elections. The N&R follows up.

Kudos to Keith Brown are all over the blogosphere, and I’ll add that he did a great service by exposing Action Greensboro’s political activity, considering the fact AC portrays itself as a benign “economic development” nonprofit. It’s also important for citizens to be aware the political maneuverings behind bond referendums, which put local governments deeper in debt and drive up property taxes.

Meanwhile, Greensboro Politics reports that City Council member Mike Barber will not run for reelection to his District 4 seat. Ryan Shell says Barber’s decision is “official,” yet does not provide a link or cite the source of his information. Did I miss something?

Some might feel that Barber is a little too pro-business, but I give him credit for his constant questioning of city expenditures. He also provides some badly-needed common sense for a council that all too often appears not to know its arse from its elbow.
