The N&R’s Rob Daniels says the Redskins played up the Sean Taylor tragedy a little too much in their run to the playoffs:

At first, the ‘Skins were inspired. In their first game without Taylor, they voluntarily took the field with 10 defenders, leaving their friend’s position vacant for the first play from scrimmage. That was different. That statement boldly challenged the sanctity of the NFL’s macho ethos, which says nothing’s more important than tactical, schematic preparation for the epic battle — Football is War, you know — of Any Given Sunday.

But then the ‘Skins went a bit too far. Rather than restricting themselves to memorial patches on uniforms or other emblems that acknowledged Taylor’s life and death, they produced an intentionally inaccurate document that otherwise looked official. Let’s be clear here: This was not an internal memo; it was placed on the team’s Web site and distributed to the media.

A bit nitpicky, in my opinion. Now we learn that Joe Gibbs is resigning.
