It took a while to hear anything from Polk County, but now all 7 precincts have reported. Ray D. Gasperson, Margaret P. Johnson, and Benny Smith won the Democrat race for board of commissioners; Teddy B. Owens, David Moore, and Thomas E. Pack, the Republican. Nathan Shields procured 51% of the vote in a three-way race for the Republican nomination for sheriff.
