Mark Jamison, a commissioner in the Town of Webster, resigned halfway through his term. His letter cited unspecified impact on his day job as postmaster. The remainder of his term should be filled by an appointment.

Jamison was elected in 2009 when only two persons filed to fill five vacancies on the town board. On election day, forty-two citizens turned out to vote for their favorites of two incumbents and twenty write-in candidates. Jamison and Alan Grant scored as many votes as the two incumbents. Speaking of the lame election, Jamison told the Smoky Mountain News at the time:

It’s kind of weird, but what it tells you is you don’t have much of a mandate. It tells you people don’t want you to do a whole lot. In my case, I think I’ll tread lightly.
