A new study for the Florida Public Service Commission finds that nuclear and natural gas are the cheapest ways to produce power. Breakeven power rates for the different fuels:
- Solar 2009: 30.39 cents/kWh
- Solar 2020: 23.59 cents/kWh
- Nuclear 2020: 12.97 cents/kWh
- Nat. gas 2020: 10.09cents/kWh
- Peak-only gas: 17-23 cents/kWh
- Wind 2020: 18.3 ents/kWh if land is available
