The Guilford County Board of Education plans to make a third attempt to pick a new District 1 representative next week.
It just won’t be Edward Squires Jr., who withdrew his name from consideration one week after being named to the board.
The board unanimously agreed Tuesday night to direct board attorney Jill Wilson to check with the other seven candidates who vied to represent District 1.
Squires’ “real estate listings, his driver’s license and documents related to a business he operated list the District 2 address as his permanent residence.”
So why did Squires think he was qualified to fill the seat left vacant by Carlvena Foster, who is now a county commissioner? He’s going through a divorce and lives with his parents in District 1.
