‘Someone’s going to throw money at Google’

Why am I not surprised at this statement from Greensboro City Council member Robbie Perkins in today’s N&R article on the Google ‘community meeting’:

“It would be a big business recruiting advantage,” Councilman Robbie Perkins said.

Perkins said people should brace themselves for the possibility the city would have to put up some cash to lure Google.

“Especially with something that will be really competitive, someone somewhere is going to throw some money at Google,” he said.

For so long I’ve been bracing for the possibility of our local government throwing money at people that I’m downright rigid — and at such a young age, too.
