The Macon County Commissioners are following the pattern set by local governments in Buncombe County for questioning interstate designs. In both cases, local governments signed resolutions in support of a plan that wasn’t developed by the DOT.
The DOT recommended alternative E, which is viewed as the most expensive and environmentally invasive option by many citizens and regulatory agencies who commented on the state’s Environmental Assessment.
