Just once, I’d like to hear a college administrator say something along the lines of “Our students have grown up being inundated with how valuable diversity is, from preschool to public television to after-school specials to primary, elementary and high schools to public museums and a host of other institutions throughout society. They’re adults now. If they haven’t learned it yet, there’s nothing we can do that’ll get through to them. So let’s return to what we’re best at, and get all these Ph.D.’s in their respective disciplines back to teaching their respective disciplines.”

Instead, what we get from a major research institution, a flagship institution of the UNC system, our own NC State, is more like:

We love you,
We poll you,
Won’t you say
You love us too?
