In this Townhall column Thomas Sowell continues to dissect Barack Obama’s positions on issues. Today he focuses on education and observes that throughout his political career, Obama has been a dutiful lapdog of the education unions. That means opposing changes that might actually lead to more education for the money ladled into it.

The presidency ought to have no more to do with education than with street paving, but Washington is now deeply involved in education. If Obama wins, look for assiduous care and feeding of all the interest groups in the leftist galaxy, especially the education establishment. Student learning will keep going down, but that will merely be the justification or still more federal intervention.
