You have to wonder if charges against Sidney Lowe II will affect his relationship with his girlfriend, 21-year-old A&T student Jessica Smith.

Perhaps it’s hard to act gentlemanly if after you’ve (allegedly) been involved in a shooting:

Lowe didn’t explain to Smith why his day was crazy. He left the room, came back in different clothes and then took a shower. Then, Lowe asked his girlfriend to get him fresh clothes from his car, changed and left.

Smith told investigators that earlier that Saturday that Lowe met her at Wal-Mart and asked to borrow her car, a burgundy 1993 Nissan Altima. Smith said she saw Brian Patrick Martin with Lowe in the parking lot. Martin has been charged with attempted murder in the shooting.

Later on Saturday, after Lowe had come and gone, Smith’s mother phoned her to say police were looking at the car, which was registered to Smith’s mother.

Smith called Lowe and asked, “What’s up?”

Lowe, 21, told her they would talk about it later and hung up.

She called him back and said: “What do you mean we will talk later? My mom called and the police are at my car.”

Lowe said a profanity.

“Don’t say anything,” he told her.

You have to wonder what type of relationship counseling young Ms. Smith is getting from her mother right now.
