Forsyth County commissioners approve $12.5 million in incentives for Billy Prim’s downtown stadium-development plan.

While Prim expressed his appreciation, he also hinted that $41 million in combined city and county incentives still isn’t enough:

The county’s offer is about $1.5 million less than what Prim had originally asked for.

He left open the possibility that he could ask for more money from project supporters – such as the city of Winston-Salem, Wake Forest University and the Millennium Fund.

Asked whether the city would agree to give Prim more money, Mayor Allen Joines said, “We’re firmly saying that there has to be additional revenue if we are going to be asked to change the deal. Right now, the way the deal is structured, we have put in all that we can put in.”

Some additional money could come from selling the naming rights to the new stadium.

Geez. I’m no economist, but I still can’t figure out why a guy as wealthy as Prim is trying to drain every cent of money he can from sources other than his own pocket.
