Suspended Reynolds High School teacher Brent David will appeal his pending dismissal, arguing his alleged conduct–shoving a student against a wall- was no worse than that of East Forsyth softball coach Mike Muse, who was suspended for five days for cussing out a student.

According to the Winston-Salem Journal, David’s attorney maintains that “Muse set out to purposefully intimidate a student whereas David was in a very difficult situation and for a very short period of time lost his temper.”

As I’ve said before, there have been an alarming number of incidents involving teachers at WSFCS, and not all of them confrontational as in these two instances. Something’s not right; one has to wonder if this problem is particular to WSFCS or if other school systems do a better job of covering up.
