The Winston-Salem City Council voted last night to spend $2 million in federal stimulus money on green initiatives, which will be overseen by a “sustainability director” with a salary of $100,000.

After congratulating themselves on helping the environment and saving taxpayer money, the council then voted unanimously to to give a $550,000 mortgage loan to a developer for a 64-unit low-income housing complex in the southern end of the city.

Interpret for yourselves, dear reader.
