The Smithfield Herald reported on a homeowner peppering a fleeing burgler’s car (and arm) with gun fire. There is a question whether the victim will be prosecuted since the perp was technically off the property by then, but he’s getting support from the community. I think authorities are trying real hard not to take sides here:
“He wasn’t sure exactly how many shots he fired at the time,” said sheriff’s Detective Tommy Beasley. “He was a little upset. It was in the heat of the moment.”
