To remedy the situation, industrialists extended their crippled, needy hand to the 21st century version of Father Christmas – the $12 trillion national debt. Representative Heath Shuler (D-Waynesville) announced today Fletcher-based Materials Innovation Technologies will be receiving $132,000 from the National Science Foundation. The funds will go toward creating 120 high-paying jobs in South Carolina. MIT will build its new facility in South Carolina because that state offered them $5 million in corporate welfare.
