That’s the title of historian Donald Critchlow’s new book about the role of the conservative wing of the Republican Party after World War II.
He addressed major themes from the book during today’s North Carolina History Project Headliner speech in Raleigh. One key idea involves the conduciveness of the post-war economy to a set of political ideas opposed to New Deal liberalism.
