One of the few things I remember from my first visit to Gettysburg as a seven-year-old (other than two musket balls that collided in mid-flight and the table where Stonewall Jackson’s arm was amputated) was the thirty-by-thirty foot “Electric Map”, with six hundred and something light bulbs that traced the course of the battle. The park wanted us to remember it, too — it was heavily promoted in the literature and billboards, I recall.
No more, it seems. The National Park Service is decommissioning The Electric Map, but they’re willing to let it go to an interested buyer.
Any takers?
