Every family has a crazy uncle and every generation has a crazy billionaire. We’re all familiar with the reclusive oddities of Howard Hughes (Though he always kept a barber on call, Hughes only had his hair cut and nails trimmed about once a year.)
Our Hughes equivalent is Ted Turner, who had this to say on Charlie Rose’ PBS show when asked what will happen if we don’t take “drastic action” to correct global warming
Not doing it will be catastrophic. We’ll be eight degrees hotter in ten, not ten but 30 or 40 years and basically none of the crops will grow. Most of the people will have died and the rest of us will be cannibals.
How does an erudite, educated, worldly guy like Turner come up with such lunacy? I have to wonder if he really believes what he says or is just having fun at his own expense.
