This morning’s print edition of The Inside Scoop discusses Guilford County Commissioner Linda Shaw’s revelation that she heard Insurance Commissioner Jim Long say GCS could be getting up $40 million in insurance money to help rebuild Eastern Guilford High School. But the word from the insurance department itself contradicts the commissioner:
Chrissy Pearson, public information director with the insurance department, said Long made an off-the-comment based on a figure he thought he read in a newspaper….Pearson added that Long’s department doesn’t handle insurance coverage for the school system.
Whatever. The bottom line is GCS is going to get what it gets from the insurance department, and it has to figure out how to make up the difference after county commissioners declined to pass COPs. How the school board reacts at tonight’s meeting should be very interesting.
