Dr. Johnson famously said that patriotism was the last refuge of the scoundrel, but today I’d say it’s accusations of racism. That’s how Barney Frank is trying to divert criticism of the the Democrats’ bullheaded defense of Fannie Mae and their politically motivated campaign for “affordable housing” — i.e. home ownership for people who are not financially responsible.
