Karen DeCoster writes here in response to a wacky but frightening piece in The Nation. The author of that piece, William Greider, seems to be on exactly the same wavelength as Obama, believing that through benevolent coercion, the government can enable us to lead fuller lives.

I particularly like DeCoster’s line, “Some people think it is fun to plan out other people’s lives like they are part of a Fisher-Price farm play set.” Right on target! Just as children like to pretend that they’re coming up with the best, happiest, arrangement of the people and animals in the play set, adults like Greider and Obama like to pretend that they know how to arrange millions of real people and their property to create the best, happiest society.
