Libs in Pennsylvania are up in arms, so to speak, because Urban Outfitters is offering a handgun ornament for Christmas this year. Gov. Ed Rendell’s spokesman, Kate Philips, harrumphed:
“The governor doesn’t find it
humorous or clever to display weapons that are responsible for taking
hundreds of lives each year as if they are decorations.”
The Philadelphia Inquirer intones:
More than 360 homicides have been reported in Philadelphia this year.
Duane “Sadat” Alexander, an outreach coordinator for Men United for
a Better Philadelphia, was initially speechless when told of the
ornament. He attended the funeral yesterday of a 17-year-old killed by
gunfire. “I’m really appalled,” he later said about the ornament. “My
heart is so tore out from these deaths.”
As if the ornament were the cause.
