Last month Raleigh AP Bureau Chief Sue Wilson said it was an oversight when her bureau failed to identify Meg Scott Phipps as a Democrat when it wrote a story about her getting out of jail after serving time on corruption charges. AP wasn’t alone, though. The News & Observer also failed to do so. The N&O‘s editors also said it was an oversight. Then The Charlotte Observer failed to identify former House Speaker Jim Black as a Democrat in a story speculating on what kind of prison sentence he might get on corruption charges. Another oversight.
Well, here’s another one. The AP fails to identify any party affiliation for Louisiana Congressman William Jefferson in a story about his indictment on corruption charges.
C’mon, you ombudpeople. Get your MSM editors and reporters in gear. This is laughable. Nobody believes these are oversights because it just doesn’t happen the other way.
