The Polk County Commissioners are considering donating maybe $50,000 from the public treasury for the local senior center. The complex has been under water, figuratively, since poor decisions were made during construction. Some on the board don’t want to start a precedent for funding nonprofits. Others think it wise to fund a “center” to “meet community needs.” The board directed staff to provide a financial estimate for repairs.
