On September 20, a Camden, NC elementary school teacher’s assistant apparently bit a special education student, who reportedly bit the teacher’s assistant first. This was enough for Camden County Schools Superintendent John Dunn to defend the assistant, who is scheduled to appear in court on November 4. (The judge should have scheduled the hearing on Halloween so that she could dress like a vampire.)

“I’m really concerned about the amount of abuse teachers have to take, Dunn said. Teachers shouldn’t have to tolerate physical attacks from their students…”

No, they do not have to tolerate physical attacks, but retaliatory biting is not an appropriate response by a mature adult. Shame on you Superintendent Dunn.
