Mind you, this is the N&R writing:

The world didn’t end.

The bottom didn’t fall out.

And teachers didn’t bolt.

So far, few teachers have left the Guilford County schools that lost bonuses this year — despite the fear of increased turnover. The bonuses anchor a five-year-old incentive program to reduce attrition and boost test scores in struggling schools.

“Some of the schools where we thought we would lose teachers, they’ve opted to stay because they like the school and their work environment,” said Amy Holcombe, who oversees the Mission Possible program.

The district reduced the number of participating schools after a federal grant ended in June.

Amazing —the school system did with less money —federal money, no less—- and the world didn’t end.
