Rep. Thomas Wright (D-New Hanover) was expelled from the North Carolina House of Representatives today.  See here for the full Committee report against him.

Rep. Earl Jones proposed an amendment to change the expulsion to censure, a much less serious action.  The vote failed on the amendment: 102 voting no; 12 voting yes. Those voting yes on the amendment were Adams (D-Guilford); Bell (D-Sampson); Earle(D-Mecklenburg); Hall (D-Durham); Jeffus (D-Guilford); Jones (D-Guilford); McAllister (D-Cumberland); Michaux (D-Durham); Mobley (D-Hertford); Saunders (D-Mecklenburg); Womble (D-Forsyth); Wright (D- New Hanover)

The vote then moved to House Resolution 2, which expelled Wright from the House.  It passed with 109 voting yes; 5 voting no.  Voting no were Jones (D-Guilford); McAllister (D-Cumberland); Parmon (D-Forsyth); Womble (D-Forsyth); Wright (D-New Hanover)

Those members absent today with an excused absence: Clary (R-Cleveland); Coleman(D-Wake); Daughtry (R-Johnston); Kiser (R-Lincoln); Luebke (D-Durham)

After the vote was counted and announced, Rep. Wright was escorted from the chamber by the Sargent of Arms. The seat for the 18th District was declared vacant.
