Bryson City’s board of aldermen is considering changing over to a form-based code. The timing seems a little strange. The public perception is that most government bodies are scrambling to subsidize construction, but Bryson City wants to increase its planning penalty. Reports that crime rates are expected to escalate as the economy continues to sag hardly serve as evidence substantiating government’s choice to allocate limited tax dollars toward tightening the thumbscrews on architects.
