That’s the Durham police chief’s faint praise for the track record of Sgt. Mark Gottlieb, the investigating officer in the Duke lacrosse case. The N&O has been digging into Gottlieb’s background and job performance and seems to have a found a pattern of Gottlieb going after Duke students in his district while letting other scofflaws off easy.
Duke students who violated noise ordinances or open container laws found themselves handcuffed and hustled downtown by Gottlieb; non-students who possessed a fire-arms or pot got off with a ticket.
Should be fun if and when the lacrosse case gets to trial.
