Robert Cialdini, Dan Ariely, Cass Sunstein, Richard Thaler, and Daniel Kahneman all helped write scripts and develop ways to motivate action during Obama’s campaign. Behavioral economics is central to his plans.

This is about more than just libertarian paternalism. Besides trying to rig the rules and risking hubris (Cialdini warned that using the techniques in corrupt ways makes them less effective), the Obama brain trust have written books and papers on their findings that can help us craft our own messages.
