The federal lawsuit filed by a former Independence High assistant principal against Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools could shine some sunshine in places long hidden in the dark by the Ed Center.

Teachers have long complained that blackmail and intimidation form the core management philosophy of CMS. Principals and other administrators pathological enough to have this skill set are rewarded by the central administration not out of gratitude, but out of fear. In this atmosphere the most valued thing is not a new idea or better way of teaching, but a piece of dirt that can be dangled over someone to gain an advantage.

It will be interesting to watch this case unfold.
