Chapel Hill Mayor Kevin Foy has a curious strategy for obtaining state funding of bike lanes and sidewalks in Chapel Hill. According to this item in the Raleigh News & Observer, (scroll down to the last item in the column) the mayor asked the town transportation director if they could simply request one thing but then do another.
“What if we did put in potential road widenings, and then switched them out once they got funded?” he asked.
Let’s hope the mayor was kidding about intentionally misleading transportation officials.
