*Greetings from Manalapan, NJ, where we’re staying with a close friend who’s no stranger to Greensboro. Gabby said I could link her only if I mentioned the fact that she’s been trying to slap some sense into my conservative head.

*NY Post’s George Willis says Mike Vick is one lucky dog. Teams expected to show interest, according to Willis, include Buffalo, Jacksonville, St. Louis, Oakland, Denver and Carolina. Mmmmm……

*Used NJ Mass Transit to go onto the big city yesterday. My search for cheap pizza led me to W. 42nd Street, which is a dump. My hosts could have told me that, if I’d asked. But we found free lemonade.

*Speaking of mass transit, we caught the afternoon commuter train yesterday. People were nice enough, but they looked as tired and weary looking for a seat on the train as I imagine they would look sitting in traffic. But that’s the point, someone argued —- they’re not sitting in traffic. The guys drinking cold Bud on the train sure looked happy, though.

*Any surprise that Greensboro City Council member Sandra Anderson Groat owes money to a construction supply company?

*Any surprise that the N&R supports the proposed downtown design guidelines?

That’s it for now. Back down the Northeast corridor. Next stop: Baltimore.
