Thomasville City Manager Kelly Craver was found not guilty on drug charges resulting form his New Year’s night arrest:

Davidson County District Court Judge Rod Penry told a state prosecutor that she did not have a case “beyond reasonable doubt against” the 54-year-old Craver. The judge arrived at his decision after a 90-minute trial, the High Point Enterprise reported.

A clean-cut Craver, who was represented by Lexington attorney Jeff Berg, appeared at court without his trademark ponytail. Misti Whitman, a Thomasville attorney, also attended the court proceeding. She said she is serving as Craver’s civil attorney.

“Certainly, we think the verdict speaks for itself,” said Craver, who has been suspended with pay since Jan. 3, after the judge’s decision. “We’ve got a City Council meeting (tonight), and hopefully the wheels of government will move true and I can be reinstated and go back to work.”

The City Council meets tonight “for a closed session to discuss personnel.” It will still be interesting to see what the council determines regarding Craver’s job status. Are they comfortable with their city manager being in the presence of dope smoking? I’m just wondering.
