Some UNC doctors who help the poor are fighting the new Carolina North campus, which would shut down the Horace Williams Airport. The doctors use the airport, which is very close to campus, to conveniently fly in and out on trips to rural communities in North Carolina, where they provide healthcare to the poor. However, Carolina North has the vigorous support of the UNC power brokers. This debate will prove quite interesting and will shine the light on this key question: Is it more important to efficiently provide services to the poor, as these doctors are doing, or is it more important to construct another building?
