Jeff Taylor has an excellent article on Carolina Journal today, showing that UNCC’s chancellor Phil Dubois has been cooperating with political forces in Charlotte that favor governmentally-financed light rail and oppose the repeal of the special tax that raises some $70 million annually for the Charlotte Area Transit System.

I doubt that Chancellor Dubois is familiar with the history of such mass transit investments — they almost invariably require constant taxpayer subsidies — but no matter what his level of understanding on the issue, I submit that state university officials ought to stay out of local political disputes.
