UNCG inappropriately hired a technology contractor who received $431,000 in state money over two years, according to a state audit.

A couple of things here: State auditors were alerted to the situation through a tip to the State Auditor’s Hotline. Second, the money was paid through student fee revenue.

Keep talking about the high cost of education, alright.

Update: I had a feeling UNCG chancellor Patricia Sullivan would explain dipping into when installation of the Banner system ran over budget:

Sullivan said that because the Banner system manages all the university’s financial operations, including billing and financial aid, the system does directly benefit students.

There you have it.
