Well, well. UNCC economist John Connaughton — last seen forecasting 2.2 percent economic growth for North Carolina in 2010 way back in June — now says that the state economy will grow by…0.8 percent this year. That it is a 64 percent correction for Mr. Glass Half-full.

More importantly, considering that the Charlotte area has lagged the rest of the state in job creation and general economic activity, it is not a stretch to believe that the region will see zero economic growth for 2010. That’s zero growth in a supposed year of recovery.
